During this time of year, a popular theme is spring cleaning. Out with the old. In with the new. We clean up our closets, cars, desks, and offices… but what about our SELVES? Spring is the perfect time to do some spring cleaning for your SOUL.
Okay, but how? Here is a simple exercise to clear out the clutter in your soul. Ready, set, go!
Sit comfortably in a chair with your spine straight and feet flat on the floor. Place your hands palm down on your legs. Close your eyes. Consciously relax every part of your body from top to bottom… face, neck, shoulders, back, arms, legs.
Focus on your breath. Inhale and exhale slowly, in equal rhythm. Imagine inhaling golden light, and exhaling any stress from the day. Repeat this a few times.
Now think of something that you’d like to do some spring cleaning on. For example, healing a broken heart. Focus all of your attention on your heart. Envision a golden ball of light engulfing your entire chest area. In your mind’s eye, see the pain melting away until it’s gone. Then fill the area with golden light.
Imagine the golden light growing bigger and bigger until your entire body is encompassed. Feel the comforting warmth of the light. Remember this feeling so you can always tap back into it during the day if needed.
Open your eyes and enjoy feeling lighter! This exercise can be repeated as often as needed, any time of year.
